  • Structure

    New: Winter Term 2017/18.

    Students who decide on the study program international business administration complete the first four, respectively five semesters in Germany. According to the cooperation partner the students spend the following three or four semesters at one of the renowned Chinese universities Sun Yat-sen or Tongji. In the last semester they finish their bachelor thesis, which has to be written and defended in English.

    The study program of the four-year studies comprises 240 ECTS from which at least 120 ECTS are obtained at the WFI and at least 60 ECTS at the partner university abroad. The bachelor thesis and an internship as well as an internship report are wo

    Compulsory elective area

    The compulsory elective modules from the 4th semester add up to 140 ECTS. They are supposed to give the students the opportunity to specialize in one of nine core themes of business administration and further to adjust the module selection

    In the bachelor's major "Accounting and Controlling" comprehensive theoretical and practical contents from the areas of business management, strategically controlling, value-oriented controlling, risk controlling, cost management, international accounting and exam theory are given. Deepening insights can be won in the areas of Business financing, tax law, insolvency and balance law.

    The bachelor's main focus "Finance, Banking and Capital markets" is designed to provide comprehensive theoretical and practical contents with long half-value period which one needs in the field of financial practise which is not possible or rather hard to learn there.  In this respect the study should give a preferable wide and long persistent lead in knowledge towards later competitors in the field of financial practise.

    The main focus acts in accordance with students who would like to qualify themselves for the work with financial service providers like banks and insurances, for the work in the financial sector of companies as well as in equivalent sectors of management consultancy and accounting control.

    The main element contains the application of information technologies (IT) to support business management processes. Since the IT takes up a strategic role in almost all industries and fields of responsibility by now, the information management is an important field of competence with excellent career chances.

    The major "Information management" offers the possibility to get to know the methods of information management and its application in selected areas of business management.

    Thereby, IT support characterises the main element in the relation between company and customer in "Electronic Commerce" as a conduit of communication and transaction at the future time.

    The bachelor's major "international management" is designed to provide comprehensive theoretical, practical and interdisciplinary contents from the area of the international business management.

    Therefore, strategies and structures of internationally active companies as well as their functional areas are illuminated in an international context. In the course of that, theories and instruments are picked out as a central theme for the choice and processing of different land markets and to the coordination and control of foreign company assets. Also the students get to know the political, juridical and social characteristics of different economic areas and receive practical oriented insights into intercultural aspects of the cross-border management.

    The bachelor's major "Marketing and Service Management" is designed to impart a comprehensive theoretical and practical oriented knowledge in areas of marketing and service management.

    Topics about the habits of consumer, marketing research, marketing management and models of marketing characterise the centre of this lesson. Concerning the service management attention is given particularly to aspects of service orientation, the performance management in service enterprises as well as in the international service management.

    Additional events of academic emphasis of this main focus refer to topics like logistics, business informatics, international management and tourism management. Parts of the events are held in English.

    The main focus "Marketing and Service management" is directed at students who have a special interest in questions of business management oriented to the market and want to find out how customer-oriented and service-oriented behaviour can be realised, planned, and steered in companies.

    Single subjects put main focuses in areas like taxation of individuals, taxation of companies, accounting of companies, right of social insurance, financing of companies as well as insolvency and the conversion of companies.

    The main focus "Taxation and Accounting" is not only directed at students who see her future in the tax consultation and audit, but also to students who want to be prepared very extensively for the guidance and management in big companies in the sector of accounting and taxation.

    In the bachelor's main focus "Supply Chain of management" (SCM) contextual and methodical knowledge for composition of production- and logistic systems as well as modern company-covering chains of logistics are communicated. A wide offer from the branches of economics, the Operation Research and the informatics allowed the students to straighten the study appropriate to their individual aptitudes and wishes. Beside the theoretical background, events and lectures of practise experienced experts as well as excursions to companies are an inherent part of the curriculum.

    The main focus is directed at students who see her future as "SCM experts" in one of the functional areas logistics, production and purchasing or in the growing market for operational and/or strategic logistic consultation. In addition, the main focus offers a respectable basis for continuing master programmes.

    In the study program international business administration the students achieve a profound knowledge of the Chinese language to be perfectly prepared in linguistic and cultural regards for their time abroad.

    In the third and fourth semester students of international business administration attend a course of business Chinese for 2,5 hours a week.

    Business languages

    The WFI especially supports the foreign-language skills of its students. Besides Chinese students have the opportunity to choose one of the offered business languages (English, French or Spanish). Further, many lectures are given in English to improve the intercultural abilities.

    The English language is specifically relevant to students of international business administration since their lectures in China are given in English and additionally they are supposed to write and defend their bachelor thesis in English.
