Accommodation in Eichstätt & Ingolstadt

Important note for all exchange students: If you want to make use of our Housing Service, you will be required to conclude a rental contract for a minimum duration of 6 months (1 semester) or 12 months (2 semesters).

Housing Service of the International Office

As an exchange student, you may make use of the Housing Service offered by the KU. The International Office will help you find accommodation and facilitate the contact between you and your future landlord or landlady. This service is free of charge. However, a Housing Service deposit of €350, which is refunded with the end of your rental contract, is charged.

Application requirements:

  • Housing application form (part of the online application) - completed, signed and submitted by June 15 (winter semester) or December 15 (summer semester)
  • Scan of bank statement proving you have transferred the Housing Service deposit of €350

Upon accepting our housing offer, which you will receive by e-mail, your reservation of the housing offered is binding.

In addition to the Housing Service deposit of €350, a rental deposit is charged by each landlord or landlady. Should your apartment need to be cleaned after you have moved out, should any item in your apartment have to be repaired, or should you have outstanding rental payments, the rental deposit may be used to cover the additional costs. The rental deposit depends on your monthly rent and is usually equivalent to two or three months' rent. It is refunded automatically after the end of your rental contract.

Making use of the International Office's Housing Service is highly recommended. Should you decide to organize accommodation by yourself, please make sure to start looking for accommodation at least 4 months prior to the start of your exchange period and be prepared to have to travel to Eichstätt or Ingolstadt beforehand. Please also take into account that not having a good command of German complicates the search for accommodation.
