Press and Public Relations at the KU

The department of press and public relations is a deputy office of the president of the KU. In co-ordination with university management, the faculties, institutes and facilities, the staff of this department attend to the internal and external communication of the university. In doing this, the department offers a variety of services.

Media Service

The department publishes official press information of the university, organizes press conferences and background talks with representatives of press and media. It also mediates experts from the KU to researching journalists. For this, the KU is also a member of the Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw - Scholarly Information Service). Moreover, the department regularly compiles a press review.

Publications

The KU publishes the magazine “Agora” once per semester (in german language) that everyone interested can subscribe to for free. ”Agora” is complemented by ”Newsletter Report Online”, which is distributed several times per semester via e-mail and can also be subscribed to for free.

Internet

The department for Press and Public Relations coordinates the internet site of the KU and attends the whole web offering of the university. The web guidelines passed by the senate in 2001 put an emphasis on the presence of the KU online and the establishment of minimum requisitions for content, design as well as responsibilities. At the Web-Office, help can be found for the design of KU-websites.

Internal Services

This department gives advice concerning public relations the university management and to the faculties, in regard to research projects or meetings, and closely cooperates with the Working Committee College Marketing at the Economic Sciences Faculty.

Corporate Design

As the only Catholic university in a German speaking country, the KU presents itself with a well recognized and standardized appearance. The logo of the KU reflects the self-image of the KU as a modern college which consciously remembers its historical roots: The sign developed by Prof. Köppel is the stylized Wheel of St. Katharina, the patron saint of the university. Principles concerning the employment of the logo, other graphic elements and types are integrated in the rules of a design manual. To ease the adherence to these rules, several kinds of material are provided, from note-paper to presentation patterns.
