As Professor of Psychology, Prof. Dr. Arno Drinkmann is responsible for courses in psychology at the Faculty of Social Work in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Social Work, the Bachelor’s degree program in Childhood Education, the Bachelor’s degree program in Nursing, the Master’s degree program in School Social Work, and the Master’s degree program in Community Informatics.

  • 1977–1984: Studied psychology at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg; graduated in 1984 with the degree Dipl.-Psych. 
  • 1985–1987: Research associate at the Institute of Psychology at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (under Prof. Dr. N. Groeben) 
  • 1985–1993: Research associate and from 1990 head psychologist at the Department of General Clinical and Psychosomatic Medicine (under Prof. Dr. P. Hahn) at Heidelberg University Hospital 
  • 1990: Doctoral degree (Dr. phil.) at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (thesis topic: Methodological critique of meta analysis) 
  • 1993–2010: Professor of Psychology and Methods in Social Sciences at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Evangelische Hochschule Nürnberg; 2007–2009: faculty dean 
  • 1999: Obtained license to practice as a psychotherapist 
  • October 2010–present: Professor of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Work of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt

Current research projects

  • Suicide prevention in inpatient institutions for elderly people (SpEsA)
    Prof. Dr. Arno Drinkmann (with the elderly care group at Nationales Suizidpräventionsprogramm für Deutschland, NaSPro)
  • Implementation of the parent education program ‘Parents as Teachers’ in refugee families (funded by Caritasstiftung Eichstätt)
