Eichstätt is located in the Altmühltal natural park, a popular destination for sports enthusiast and nature lovers alike. The Altmühl, Germany’s slowest flowing river, winds its way gently through the landscape and is popular with canoeists and cyclists, who follow its mostly natural banks.

The University offers various different sports for students and staff – from badminton to basketball, fencing, fitness courses, soccer, jazz dance, canoeing, and swimming – and is continuously expanding its range. Those who are interested in music and the arts can join the theater group, sing in the university choir, play in the big band, or get involved in film evenings.

And what about the night life? It may not be a big city but Eichstätt still has plenty to offer with a variety of pubs, beer gardens, clubs, and concerts, as well as a cinema and a theater, which are all easy to get to. Of course, students organize plenty of activities privately too.

Ingolstadt is situated in the very heart of Bavaria. With a population of around 130,000, it is Germany’s newest city and has a flourishing economy. Although Ingolstadt is known for being a modern industrial city, it is one of the greenest cities in Bavaria. Situated on the banks of the Danube and surrounded by forests, the city also has a large park in the center, the Klenzepark. Its architecture has been shaped by its history as the former residence of the Bavarian dukes and the location of the first Bavarian state university.

The historic old town is home to many restaurants, clubs, and pubs where you can enjoy some time out after lectures and seminars. There is also a great deal on offer for culture lovers with the city theater, an annual jazz festival, a wide range of concerts, and traditional beer festivals.
