Continuing education at the KU

In view of the ever more rapidly changing conditions in society, our economic system and technology, we are constantly being confronted with new challenges in all areas of our lives. Education has become a lifelong task. Especially against the backdrop of lifelong learning concepts, universities have become an essential pillar in education and training. Accordingly, continuing education within the meaning of Article 2 para. 1 sentence 1 Bavarian Higher Education Act (BayHSchG) is part of the fundamental mission of Bavarian universities along with research and teaching. The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is committed to this mission, which becomes evident in its specific profile focusing on building responsibility, values and sustainability. Our programs mainly focus on socio-economic, political, religious and educational topics.

In order to meet the challenges of high-quality academic continuing education now and in future, the KU has established a project position for this area in November 2018. The aim of the project is to integrate a new continuing education basis in the KU’s organizational structure in the long-term and to tailor new continuing education programs to the diverse needs of specialist and executive staff in the economic, social and educational area.

The office’s responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out program and market analyses
  • Developing a concept for structural and strategic development of the academic continuing education practice at the KU
  • Taking over coordination and service functions for continuing education teachers at the faculties
  • Supporting internal and external networking activities

In accordance with the objective of a wider social, economic and political knowledge transfer, the KU is particularly committed to establish collaborations with companies and to intensify its ties with regional and international associations.
