Admission to the Master’s degree program is restricted. Currently, 20 students are admitted per academic year.

Requirements for the application are an undergraduate degree in a program lasting at least six semesters in the field of humanities or social sciences with an overall grade of at least “good” or law with an overall grade of at least “satisfactory”. Furthermore, in order to enroll, students will have to have at least B2 language proficiency in the teaching languages English and Spanish as well as a level of proficiency of A2 in German (German certificates must be handed latest by the end of the second semester).

The application deadline is July 1st each year.

Interviews will take place on June 24th, July 6th and 15th. Each from 1pm to 7pm.

Please note: We recommend to international students to apply as early as possible.

  • Application form issued by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt
  • Résumé in table form with photograph
  • Proof of a first degree or equivalent of at least 180 ECTS credits, or proof of all credits obtained in a Bachelor’s degree program so far (whereby a minimum of 135 ECTS credits must have been obtained)
  • Proof of language proficiency
    English: Proof by a secondary school graduation certificate (Reifezeugnis), a first degree, participation in the TOEFL examination with an overall score of at least 78 credits or any other qualifying proof
    Spanish: Proof by a secondary school graduation certificate (Reifezeugnis), a first degree, a DELE Spanish Diplom level B2 or any other qualifying proof
    German: Proof by a secondary school graduation certificate (Reifezeugnis), a first degree, a Goethe certificate level A2 or any other qualifying proof


Foreign applicants, please note

Bildungsinländer – students who obtained their university entrance qualification in Germany – are treated as German for the purposes of application and must apply in accordance with requirements for German students.

All foreign nationals, including EU citizens, who do not have a German university entrance qualification must submit the 'Application form for admission to Germany university for international applicants with foreign qualification'. Otherwise the same admission requirements as for German applicants apply. More information:

Subject to fulfillment of the admission requirements you will be invited to attend a personal interview. If there are more than 20 qualified applicants, places will be allocated by way of a selection procedure.

It is expected that letters of admission will be distributed by August 15, 2018 which will also contain all relevant details regarding admission and enrollment.
