Funding line "Participation in external professional development courses in the field of methodology"
What is the aim of the funding line?
With this funding line, the KU especially intends to support KU employees holding a doctoral degree and doctoral candidates in the acquisition of methodological skills required for their qualification and their own research work, if this methodological training cannot be offered at the KU within a time frame that is acceptable for the applicant.
What is meant by “professional development course in the field of methodology”?
The funding line supports active participation in externally offered courses or trainings that are specifically designed for doctoral candidates or postdocs and impart special methodological skills in a block course.
Such special methodological skills should have an innovative character and proof must be provided that training for such skills cannot be offered at the KU within an appropriate time frame (irrespective of whether in the applicant’s own discipline or others).
The courses should teach theoretical methodological skills in an intensive and compact manner that can be tested in practical classes with specialist support using own research data.
A certificate or comparable proof of the acquired skills must be awarded for completion of the course.
Who may apply for funding?
(Junior) professors, postdoc research associates, and research associates who are accepted and enrolled KU doctoral students (only with letter of recommendation from their KU doctoral advisors).
