About

Verena Schröder studied the Master’s degree program in Geography: Global Change and Regional Sustainability at the University of Innsbruck, graduating in 2014. In her Master’s thesis she examined the regional corporate responsibility of cable car companies in Tyrol and analyzed the relationship between the cable cars and their social and natural environment, the companies’ sense of responsibility, and the tension between the use and protection of the natural environment. Following an interdisciplinary approach, she discussed the unequal balance of powers between actors in ski resorts and their stakeholders, and developed possible solutions in a proposed corporate regional responsibility policy.

Since graduating she has worked as a freelance consultant for sustainability and participated in various projects with companies and public bodies.

For her doctoral thesis she is conducting field research on animal geography and investigating questions concerning the relationship between humans and wild animals. She is studying how humans perceive the (new) presence of wild animals in the areas where they live, what conflicts this can result in, and how the two can coexist successfully.
