New publication

The article “The Vehicle Routing Problem with Availability Profiles” has been accepted for publication in "Transportation Science".

I am happy to share that our paper "The Vehicle Routing Problem with Availability Profiles" was published in Transportation Science. This paper is joint work with Stefan Voigt, Markus Frank, and Heinrich Kuhn and available here.

We show how availability profiles of customers can be used to improve last-mile delivery by considering the trade-off between successful delivery rate and routing costs. For solving the problem, we develop a hybrid adaptive large neighborhood search. The results demonstrate that introducing population-based features reduces the variance in the final solutions and therefore provides more stable solution quality.
