KUganda: The Challenge of Education

KUganda is an educational project of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt which has the aim of bringing students into contact with different educational contexts already during their course of study. This will raise the students’ awareness for global challenges in the context of educational justice and promote joint, cross-cultural learning. This is why every year, students and lecturers travel to Kampala in order to attend joint workshops with Ugandan teachers. They develop teaching materials, apply team teaching methods to test new ideas and concepts and collect money for teaching materials and books with a special fundraising program.

The Chair of Didactics of Religious Education, Catechetics, and Religious Education shows great interest in KUganda. In 2013, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kropač participated in an internship trip to Uganda and has supported the project ever since. Furthermore, Teresa Braun (research associate at the Chair until January 2017) was comprehensively involved in the KUganda project work and supported the project with teaching methodology and organizational aspects together with other University members.
