In the 2020 summer semester, the University Library provides a special offer with a significantly expanded range of temporary licensed media and a scanning service for printed titles to support you in your digital teaching practice. The aim is to provide information in the electronic course collection (ESA) via ILIAS.
From now on, the University Library offers a scanning service for literature that is not yet available digitally.
If you would like to make use of this service, please download the Excel template for the scanning order. Please fill in the data for your scanning order and provide information on the required literature. Then send the file by e-mail to: ub-semesterapparate(at)ku.de
Alternatively, you can also create a list of literature from your OPAC memory list (short version) or from Citavi and attach it to your e-mail. In order to do so, please have the literature list sent to your own e-mail address and forward it to the University Library together with the completed request form for scanning services (first part of the Excel file).
Please note the maximum framework legally permissible for scanning:
This allows you to offer literature in a legally permissible way on ILIAS (see PDF Section 60a UrhG). Please take note of the detailed legal regulations in Section 60a UrhG in connection with the provision of works on ILIAS. Further information is provided in the PDF guideline published by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF): "Urheberrecht in der Wissenschaft" .
Provision is made in electronic form. We will inform you by e-mail.
If you have any questions, please contact
¹Please bear in mind that this service can be used by all University lecturers and that the Library is currently working with limited staff resources. Therefore, we would like to ask you to submit your wishes in due time before the start of the semester and confine yourself to the most important literature.
The university library supports students who cannot be on site due to the Corona crisis on their own scientific research in order to write their final thesis (BA, MA, state examination, dissertation). Up to a maximum of 75% of a printed book can be made available as digital copie. This offer is limited until August 7, 2020.
This is how it works:
Since July 13, 2020, school students can use the media of the University Library for preparing their seminar paper in the context of the Q11 W seminar. Orders via OPAC and borrowing via the Main Library are also possible. Important note: School students have to apply for a library card online and (in case of minors) submit a declaration of consent signed by their parents. Registration should be done by their teacher.
The use of the reading rooms is also only possible after prior registration that can be done by e-mail to bibliothek(at)ku.de (for Eichstätt) or ub-wfi(at)ku.de (for Ingolstadt): Here, users can access e-books or specialist databases and borrow books from the reading room collections. They can also use scanners free of charge to copy texts (please bring your own USB flash drive).
The University Library offers online seminars on how to use the library collections: Teachers can make an appointment with the library in Eichstätt by e-mailing bernhard.matschulla(at)ku.de, or by phone: +49 8421/932-1487 or -1492. If you would like to make use of the library’s seminar offer for the Ingolstadt campus, please e-mail katharina.bauer(at)ku.de, or phone +49 841/937-21989 or contact bianca.schaefer(at)ku.de, +49 841/937-21809.
Since July 13, 2020, also external users who are not members of the KU can also use the library collections again. Orders via OPAC and borrowing via the Main Library are also possible.
However, due to space restrictions, reading rooms can currently only be used in the mornings (8.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.).
Please note that only users who require scientific information can be granted access to the University Library. Thank you for your understanding.
Please return your borrowed books in Eichstätt to the Main Library (books from the reference collection and the closed stacks), to the departmental library Aula (books from the departmental library Aula) or to the departmental library Ulmer Hof (books from the departmental library Ulmer Hof) during our opening hours, in Ingolstadt please use the return machine or the return box inside the main building during our opening hours.
