Migration Studies Summer Academy

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, in cooperation with the Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C., (CUA) offered a one-week Migration Studies Summer Academy from July 29 to August 3, 2019 in Eichstätt, Germany. The subject „Origin – Transit – Destination – Future“ was the topic of this Summer Academy. Up to 20 phd and master's degree students from both catholic universities had the opportunity to deal with theories and methods, chances and challenges related to flight and migration. Experts from the fields of psychology, social work, communication science, european ethnology, history, political science and sociology gave theoretical, practical and methotodological impetus for the discussions. The varied program consisted of lectures, study groups, dinner talks, city tours and excursions.

A central goal of the agenda was the development of a research draft within small study groups which were supported by mentors. The research drafts were presented at the end of the Summer Academy and referred to one of the four topics mentioned above.

Both universities want to strenghten their cooperation by offering further programmes of this kind. As soon as there is relevant news on this, we will provide the information on our website.
