Subprojects

The project is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Michael Becht (project leader sub-project 5), Chair of Physical Geography at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
The figure shows how the working groups cooperate for the common goal of research in the sediment budget of the proglacial area. The right side symbolizes the coaction of landscape forming processes: Slope processes (1. row) deliver sediment from sediment sources (bedrock) or storages (e.g. moraines) to torrents - under the assumption that a good coupling is present, i.e. the material can enter the channel unrestricted and is not deposited beforehand (2. row). The coupling of single slopes to the main channel, which eventually evacuates material from the proglacial area, decides on the sediment volume that leaves the investigation area and, therefore, on the sediment budget (3. row).
