In most cases, endowments (“Zustiftungen”) grant the supporter greater tax advantages than donations (“Spenden”) and support the Catholic University more sustainably than one-off donations.

The regulations mentioned in the fact sheet on endowments are intended to provide initial guidance. Standards of foundation law with regard to the special features of the law applicable to church foundations under public law, tax law and other regulations remain unaffected. These regulations must be taken into account and will be examined more closely in individual cases.
Current donations / endowments at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt
Professor Sutor-Stiftung (Professor Sutor Foundation)
The foundation was established in 1999 by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Sutor and his wife Therese. The foundation is intended to contribute to the profile of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt by encouraging and promoting the discussion of questions of social and political ethics in research and teaching at the KU. Prof. Dr. Sutor himself held the Chair of Didactics of Political Education and Social Studies at the Faculty of History and Social Sciences for many years and was also an Honorary Senator of the KU. Prof. Dr. Sutor passed away in January 2024 at the age of 93.

Otto von Freising-Gastprofessur (Otto Von Freising Visiting Professorship)
This endowment was established in 1987 by the Archbishop of Munich and Freising, Friedrich Cardinal Wetter, as a dependent endowment with the name "Otto von Freising Visiting Professorship" for the purpose of maintaining a visiting professorship at the KU's Faculty of History and Social Sciences.
