“A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs.” (Victor Frankenstein)
Ingolstadt, the legendary site of Victor Frankenstein's experiments, forms the starting point for this lecture series. From various scientific perspectives, we ask what ideas, hopes and fears shaped the current debate on digitalisation and artificial intelligence long before our time. The result is a history of the future of AI: an exploration of the images and ideas that determine our relationship to the things we create – especially when they develop a dynamic of their own and seem to escape our control.
Ort: Ingolstadt, Hohe-Schul Str. 5, Georgianum, room 101 (1st floor)
