Our general terms and conditions

Information on participation in continuing education offers

  1. Participation in the internal seminars offered by the department is free of charge for you as an employee of the KU.
  2. Registration is exclusively made via the ILIAS platform "Continuing education offer for KU employees"(https://weiterbildung.ku.de). Every employee who has a KU user ID can log in immediately and register for the desired course (the registration button is located at the top right). Registrations by e-mail cannot be considered.
  3. After successful registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from ILIAS. Approximately two weeks before the start of the seminar, you will receive an e-mail with further information on the venue, agenda, etc.
  4. Usually, it is possible that you de-register via the ILIAS platform up to three weeks before the start of the course. After this deadline, de-registrations can only be made by staff of the HR Development and Professional Training department in justified cases. Therefore, please remember to cancel your registration in good time if you are unable to attend or to inform the HR Development team (e-mail to ). This not only gives people on the waiting list the chance to participate, but also gives speakers and organizers planning security.
  5. If the minimum number of participants (usually seven) is not reached, the seminar will be canceled. Persons who have already registered will be informed by e-mail of the cancellation.
  6. Generally, attendance is compulsory. In the event of repeated no-shows to the seminars or cancellations at short notice, we reserve the right to give lower priority to future registrations or not to consider them at all, regardless of the time of registration.
  7. If you have attended at least 80% of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance via ILIAS (can be downloaded as a PDF document). If you wish, you can have these attached to your personnel file and thus formally document your own continuing education process.
  8. Attending continuing education courses is counted towards working hours if the respective superior agrees and there are no official reasons opposing attendance. Please speak to your superior first before registering for course. Please note: Some offers from the area of health and wellbeing are not counted as working hours. A corresponding note can be found directly in the description of the respective course on the ILIAS platform.
  9. Crediting to the working hours can generally only be made in the scope of the usual working time (Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.).
  10. For research support staff who are subject to working time recording, participation is only credited to the working time to a maximum of the allocated target time of full-time employees (also for part-time employees) (see also 4.3.1 and 4.3.3of the Agreement on  Flexible Working Hours dated October 7, 2015; Section 5 para. 5 TV-L).
  11. Research staff who are not subject to working time recording will be released from work for the required scope with continued payment of the salary/remuneration. Here as well, prerequisite for participation is the approval of the respective superior.
  12. By participating in training events, you consent to your name and e-mail address being stored electronically and processed for a specific purpose and transmitted to the respective speaker for preparation purposes. This applies in particular to online events that are held on an external platform (e.g. Big Blue Button, Webex, Blink.it etc.).
  13. The materials distributed at the events are protected by copyright and may not be redistributed or modified without the consent of the author.
  14. Catering is not provided for face-to-face events. Therefore, please remember to provide yourself with drinks and/or food.
  15. In order to create a constructive and responsible working atmosphere, the camera must generally be switched on during online events.
  16. There are separate instructions and regulations for participation in continuing education courses in higher education didactics, especially if you wish to obtain the Bavarian University Teaching Certificate. You can find them here.
