Tourism destinations are increasingly challenged to move toward more resilient, sustainable, and adaptive futures. This guest lecture introduces the core principles of transition management and how systemic change happens over time. It explores the different roles stakeholders can play in accelerating destination transitions, including government, businesses, communities, innovators, and visitors.
Dr. Heslinga will provide insights into the SPRONG project on accelerating transitions in tourism by showing real-world innovation examples such as circular hotel rooms, waterproof campsites, and airports of the future. The aim is to reflect on how destinations can move from incremental improvements toward transformative change initiatives.
The event is open for anyone from KU who is interested. Registration is not required. The lecture will be held in English.
