The International Conference in Computational Harmonic Analysis, organized by Prof. Pfander of MIDS and Profs Aldroubi and Powell of the University of Vanderbilt took place in late May in Nashville.
Prof. Yann LeCun, until late 2025 Chief of AI at Meta Platforms gave the Shanks lecture, discussing various AI architectures, outlining the potential of world models as he is developing with his new Startup Amilabs which he expects will outperform Large Language Models in 3-5 years. The organizers enjoyed vivid discussions on the role of math in the advancement of AI, the risks of AI, the impact on the job market and many other topics over dinner.
