Historical Collections Department closed to the public due to relocation work

Sixty years after its opening, the Hofgarten Library building will undergo renovation starting in 2026. This will primarily involve fire safety and building services upgrades to ensure the preservation and long-term protection of the historical collections.

In order for the work to be carried out quickly and with minimal disruption to the collections, the building must be completely cleared. The relocation of the collections will begin in October 2025. During the relocation work, which is expected to last until the end of December, there will be no access to the collections and no services will be available. Details about services from January 2026 onwards will be announced in due course.

The digital collections will continue to be available around the clock.
