The coronavirus, which primarily spread in Asia at first, has meanwhile reached Europe and also Bavaria. Daily media coverage give continuous updates on the number of cases registered in Germany. At the KU, no cases of infection with the virus have been registered to date. The University Management and the health manager and medical officer at the KU are continuously monitoring the developments and recommendations for action issued by the authorities and the Robert Koch Institute.
General information
The Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety and the Robert Koch Institute currently estimate the risk of infection with the coronavirus for the Bavarian population as being moderate.
The KU generally appeals to its employees’ and students’ sense of responsibility: We all can contribute to keeping the risk of infection to a minimum. The Robert Koch Institute recommends adhering to the following hygiene measures in this context:
- Keeping distance: If possible, ensure that you keep at least 1 to 2 meters distance to people who cough or sneeze.
- Ensure proper hand hygiene: Wash your hands properly and often by lathering them with soap for approx. 30 seconds.
- Adhere to coughing and sneezing etiquette: If you cough or sneeze, use a disposable tissue or, if you do not have tissues at hand, sneeze or cough into the bend of your elbow.
- Do not shake hands when greeting people.
Information for students

KU students returning to Eichstätt from risk areas are asked not to come to the KU during the incubation period of 14 days after their return. This time will not be counted as unauthorized absence. You are asked to complete study workload and obligations from home to the extent possible.
