Mariusz Chrostowski Awarded Germany’s Highest Postdoctoral Academic Qualification

On 21 July 2026, Professor Katharina Karl, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, presented Mariusz Chrostowski with the official certificate confirming the successful completion of his habilitation. Professor Ulrich Kropač and Klaus König, retired Academic Director, also attended the reception.

The procedure was completed on 29 May 2026. In the German university system, the habilitation is the highest postdoctoral academic qualification and certifies a scholar’s ability to represent a particular discipline independently in both research and teaching. Chrostowski was awarded this qualification in Religious Education, Catechetics, and the Didactics of Religious Education. The procedure was overseen by an academic mentoring committee chaired by Professor Ulrich Kropač, with Professor Georg Langenhorst and Professor Konstantin Lindner as its other members. Chrostowski’s habilitation thesis, Religious Education and Its Alternative Subjects: Foundations of a Cooperative Didactics of Religion, will soon be published by W. Kohlhammer in the series Religionspädagogik kooperativ.

The Chair of Religious Education, Catechetics, and the Didactics of Religious Education warmly congratulates Mariusz Chrostowski on this major academic achievement and wishes him every success in his future academic career.
