New Publication: “Religious Education in the Face of Artificial Intelligence”

Herder has published the edited volume Religiöse Bildung angesichts Künstlicher Intelligenz. Grundlegungen und Konkretionen, edited by Dr Dr Mariusz Chrostowski and Prof. Dr Johannes Heger (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg).

The volume grew out of the 2025 conference “Minding the Gap”: Religious Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, organised by the Eichstätt Chair. Taking the growing importance of artificial intelligence for education and everyday life as its starting point, the volume examines its implications for religious education from a range of disciplinary perspectives. The contributions explore key challenges and opportunities associated with AI while also highlighting the distinctive contribution religious education can make to fostering a critical and reflective engagement with artificial intelligence.

Special thanks are due to all contributors for their contributions and to the Fritz Thyssen Foundation for its generous support of both the conference and the publication.
