In the first week of July 2019, ten students of KU Eichstätt had the chance to gain exciting insights into the political life of Berlin. Under the leadership of professor Rico Behrens and research associate Anne Friedrich, the group visited associations, foundations, press- and media representatives as such as political and diplomatic actors in the German capital. The excursion is part of the seminary Political Rhetoric II, where students gain knowledge on campaigning and political public speaking. Through conversations with various actors, political science students were able to gain their own impressions about political communicative situations. In the ARD-Hauptstadtstudio, the group had the chance to glimpse behind the scenes of a public television and radio station. Further, in a conversation with BR and Deutschlandfunk correspondents, students got insights into journalistic work. In meetings with the French Embassy, political foundations and associations, the subjects of political analysis and campaigning were discussed. In a visit of the Bundespressekonferenz, the group experienced government communication. After four exciting days the group concludes: political communication can be quite diverse.
