“An Infinitely Dark Legacy”: Exhibition and Discussion in Mainz

Wednesday 28, January 2025 to Friday 30, January 2025.

Current space exploration, increasingly dominated by private industry, raises questions about the ethical costs of scientific progress, which have already shaped the origins of modern space exploration in the Nazi V2 rocket program.

The British photographer Lewis Bush recalls with Archive images and new footage, in part forgotten origins of rocket building in Germany to the fascist roots of modern space travel. The exhibition, curated by Lewis Bush together with Prof. Dr. Jens Temmen (Professor of American Studies at KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and alumnus of the Junge Akademie | Mainz), furthermore invites to reflect on the associated ethical questions.

On January 29 at 6 p.m., interested parties will have the opportunity to discuss the exhibition and related questions with the two curators and participate in a curated tour of the exhibitions.
