His research and teaching focus on professional and biographical research, methodological and epistemological foundations of qualitative research, educational theory and research, transitions within the education system and social inequality, work with children and young people, and issues related to educational participation and widening access to higher education.
He brings to the KU a research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), which examines the educational biographies and professionalisation processes of non-traditional students of early years education (students who did not commence their studies immediately after leaving school) from a biographical perspective.
