Visiting Professorship of Prof. Dr. Carlos Mendoza-Álvarez at the ZRKG in Spring 2026

As part of KU’s visiting professors program, Prof. Dr. Carlos Mendoza-Álvarez, OP, will be conducting research and teaching at the ZRKG and the Faculty of Theology from 27 April to 13 May 2026. As one of the most well-connected and distinguished theologians in the field of postcolonial theory, and as a member of the editorial team of the renowned journal Concilium, Prof. Mendoza brings a unique perspective. Since the beginning of 2026, he has been working in Indigenous pastoral ministry in Chiapas. His visit will make it possible to deepen the ZRKG’s research line on post- and decolonial thought and to plan further networking activities.

Prof. Dr. Mendoza-Álvarez wird in verschiedenen Formaten Grundzüge eines dekolonialen Denkens, seinen eigenen fundamentaltheologischen Ansatz und seine Erfahrungen in der spirituellen und theologischen Begleitung sozialer Bewegungen im globalen Süden vorstellen und mit Studierenden und Forschenden diskutieren.

Folgende Veranstaltungen sind am ZRKG geplant:

28.04.2026, 16:00 Uhr: "Social Salvation: A decolonial approach to messianic times" – Veranstaltung im Rahmen der ZRKG Werkstattgespräche “Wissenschaft in einer Zeit des Umbruchs”.
07.05.2026, 18:00 Uhr: Öffentlicher Gastvortrag: "The Resurrection as a Messianic Anticipation in a time of Systemic Violence".
12.05.2026, 16:00 Uhr: Workshop “Facing Global Trauma: The Spirituality of Social Movements and Communities of Survivors as Theo-Political Prophecy”.
