Christoph wants to become an expert in his field: “Nowadays, there is a lot of discussion, but little knowledge.” He wants to change that in the field of taxation. That's why he is studying for a Master's degree in Taxation at the Ingolstadt School of Management (WFI) at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU).
“I already completed my Bachelor's degree at the WFI and felt so comfortable there that I decided to do my Master's degree there as well.” Christoph is now in his fourth semester of his Master's degree and still can't get enough of taxation: after graduating, he wants to do a doctorate in this field – at the KU. “What I particularly like here is that the class sizes are very small, which is very pleasant.” Christoph also finds it easy to make contacts with partners in the field, which lead to internships and working student positions.
Christoph's degree program has given him a broad base and enabled him to work in both academia and the private sector: “Taxation combines tax law with empirical research.” The University's Research Institute for Taxation conducts “up-to-date and relevant research, for example on issues such as wealth taxation or minimum tax – topics that are relevant to current social debates.”
That's why Christoph sees many paths for himself after his doctorate: “I'll see whether research captivates me so much that I want to stay in this field, or whether I'll go to one of the big law firms, where the tax law aspect is more in the foreground again.” But one thing is already certain for him: regardless of his career path, he wants to be an expert in taxation.
