Janina dreams of a world in which people are treated equally, regardless of their background or income. She is particularly focused on education: Janina wants all children around the world to be able to go to school and graduate. That is why she is aiming for a career in which she can be actively involved in international development work and thereby support people. To achieve this career goal, she is studying Politics and Society at the KU.
Janina is the first in her family to attend university. “It was a privilege for me to have made it,” she says. In 11th grade, when she received a poor grade on a seminar paper in a science seminar, Janina had serious doubts about pursuing an academic career. But in the same year, she also took part in a trip to Taizé as part of a practical seminar, where she met young people from different countries. The international exchange inspired her deeply and awakened a desire to expand her knowledge through study in order to have a positive influence on the lives of others.
Janina decided to study Politics and Society at the KU in order to get closer to her dream. She is becoming an expert in politics, sociology, and communication—areas that are essential for international development work. She is particularly enthusiastic about being able to study the political systems in other countries.
Janina wants to work toward a world in which every person has the same opportunities, regardless of their origin or social status. She aspires to work for an aid organization promoting equality and equal opportunities on a global level. Through her studies in politics and society, she hopes to acquire the necessary skills to bring about lasting change in development cooperation and support people worldwide.
