Common cases of confusion

A distinction must be made between the types of recognition and crediting at the KU and other processes in which credits are also ultimately recorded in the transcript of records or in the Diploma Supplement, which at the KU are often, but only incorrectly, referred to as "crediting" or considered to be forms of credit transfer. Such common cases of confusion, which are not recognition or credit transfer processes, are in particular:

Re-booking of credits

The re-booking of credits or modules within the examination management system KU.Campus, which are carried out by the administrators at the Examinations Office if the examiner has requested a corresponding re-booking in order to correct a previous incorrect booking.

More information on the topic of re-booking is available here

Recording of examination entries to main modules

The recording of credits for an examination on main modules, which is a prerequisite for the passed examinations to be visible in the completed module entry and thus in the data transcript in KU.Campus; this is a purely technical process in which, unfortunately, technical errors can also occur for various reasons – especially after students have changed to another degree program.

Detailed information on the topic recording of credits can be found here.

Recording of credits for modules that have been chosen multiple times

The recording of credits for modules that have been chosen multiple times: Multiple booking of a module takes place if it is possible for this module to be chosen multiple times according to the examination regulations. Without a corresponding provision in the examination regulations, a module can only be completed or credited once in a degree program.

More information on the topic of completing modules multiple times is available here

Recording of additional course achievements

Recording of additional course achievements: Additional course achievements are modules that were completed during enrollment in a degree program at the KU but cannot be transferred to the student’s degree program (e.g. because the required ECTS credits have already been earned elsewhere or the module is not part of the degree program). These achievements can be included in the certificate documents if you request this in the certificate application.

More information on the topic of additional course achievements is available here.

Assignment of modules to required elective or elective areas

Assigning modules to required electives or elective areas: If degree programs have generous regulations for including modules in these areas, not all possible modules in the degree program may be logged in KU.Campus, so that these modules must still be assigned to the degree program in order to be visible in the data transcript.

More information on the topic of assigning additional modules is available here.

Entry of voluntary work in the Diploma Supplement

Adding entries for voluntary work in the Diploma Supplement of the degree program, which can be arranged as part of the certificate application.

More information on the topic of voluntary work is available here.

None of the above cases require a credit transfer request and are not processed via the online credit transfer portal. Nevertheless, these cases are unfortunately repeatedly referred to as cases of "recognition/credit transfer” at the KU, which can lead to confusion on all sides and often to considerable additional work.
