The Faculty of Languages and Literatures is home to the philology departments – Classical Philology, English and American Studies, German Studies, and Romance Studies – and the departments of Art History, Classical Archaeology, and Journalism. With 975 students in the winter semester 2024/25, it is the largest faculty at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. More than 20 professors, a large number of research associates, and a team of research support staff ensure that students receive excellent supervision and support.
The common theme among the departments at the Faculty of Languages and Literatures is a focus on culture and media. Language, literature, art, public communication, and media communication are key topics in its research and teaching. The faculty trains its students to be mediators, whether as teachers, journalists, public relations specialists, or other cultural mediators in the broader sense.
