On the one hand, these childcare shortages may result from the closure or restricted service of schools and childcare facilities. On the other hand, children may not be able to attend the respective educational and childcare facilities because they themselves or another person living in the household belong to the risk group. Female students, professors and research assistants who need a babysitter for one of these reasons can apply for a subsidy to cover the babysitting costs incurred.
The above-mentioned persons can receive a subsidy if the children who cannot attend the childcare facility to the usual extent for the above-mentioned reasons are under 12 years old and no other person living in their household can look after the children.
