Experience of the past years has shown that most KU employees take vacation between Christmas Eve and Epiphany anyway. Another reason for the break is that the University can make a contribution to saving energy during this period. The suspension of service operations during this period has proven successful in past years: Since the heating systems are throttled centrally, it has been possible to reduce the consumption of thermal energy by an amount equivalent to the annual requirements of several single-family homes. In addition, several tens of thousands of kilowatt hours of electricity have been saved. Lectures will restart on Monday, January 9, 2023.
