How can processes in organizations be improved? This is what operations management is all about: it analyzes processes in companies, administrations, and institutions with the aim of organizing them in such a way that resources can be used efficiently and services can be provided reliably. The GPOM brings together the research projects of doctoral students in this field and creates a regular forum for exchange and networking.
Prof. Dr. Pirmin Fontaine, Chair of Logistics and Operations Analytics at the KU, invited participants to this year's workshop at the KU Ingolstadt School of Management. Doctoral students and their supervising professors from seven universities and colleges attended, including the Technical University of Munich – with its campuses in Straubing, Weihenstephan, and Heilbronn – the University of Augsburg, and the University of Passau. In two parallel sessions, a total of 13 doctoral students presented their current research projects and then discussed them together. Topics included a web-based duty roster system for doctors in the field of health and the use of autonomous delivery robots in the field of transport. The fields of agricultural production, machine learning, and optimization were also addressed.
