KU among ten most popular universities in Germany

For the fifth time in a row, the KU was ranked one of the ten most popular universities in Germany. The online portal Studycheck.de has published a new ranking based on evaluations submitted online by students and alumni. After having been awarded the title as Germany’s most popular university twice, the KU now ranked second nationwide. Studycheck.de is one of the platforms with the widest reach in Germany and, according to its own information, has included almost 80,000 evaluations submitted in 2022 for 512 higher education institutions and universities in its ranking. Currently, the portal lists more than 870 reviews for the KU. 98 percent of participants would recommend the KU as a good place to study.

Students can award a maximum of five stars in various categories on Studycheck.de and tell others about their studies. The study content and the lecturers at the KU receive an average of 4.4 stars. The participants also submit similar ratings with regard to courses and the opportunities for digital studies. That is why the KU also ranked third nationwide in a separate evaluation of the "digital readiness" of universities. The library, the general equipment and the general organization of the studies are also praised.

"As student representatives, we are delighted that the KU received this award. At the same time, it should serve as an incentive for all of us not to bask in our success but to ensure that the KU continues to live up to its popularity among its students in all status groups. We are confident that a credible commitment to excellent study conditions, sustainability and, not least, quality of life on and off campus will continue to be rewarded with corresponding results in the future. We want to make sure that the KU does everything in its power to continue to live up to this trust placed in it on both campuses, and we offer our warmest congratulations on the award", says Marian Langer, chairperson of the Student Representatives Council.

KU President Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gien, emphasizes: "The fact that we repeatedly score top places in the nationwide ranking of the online portal Studycheck and rank second among the most popular universities nationwide this year makes me very happy. After the successes in this ranking in previous years, this is a renewed confirmation from our students and alumni of the quality of the courses offered at the KU and the good framework conditions we can offer in Eichstätt and Ingolstadt." Prof. Dr. Klaus Meier, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, is also pleased with the positive evaluations and adds that the KU also "takes the few critical feedbacks seriously and actively seeks dialog with students and lecturers. Just as we generally maintain an open and trusting exchange at the KU. Only in this constant trusting cooperation is it possible to provide students with the best possible offer for their years of study."

KU's repeated positive performance in the Studycheck ranking is in line with the results of numerous other surveys – such as the CHE ranking. Just last November, the Master's Program in Psychology ranked among the best in the nation.
