In connection with the spread of the coronavirus, the KU has agreed on extensive measures: Until further notice, all face-to-face courses and lectures at the KU are canceled with immediate effect – in line with the measures taken at other Bavarian universities. This applies to all courses and lectures held at all University locations and for all faculties (both Fachhochschule and university faculties) including block seminars held in preparation for the summer semester and language courses. The KU currently assesses whether and to what extent courses and lectures to be held in the summer semester could alternatively be offered as online courses or virtual lectures. The respective faculties and institutes will inform students as soon as the online offer for courses and lectures has been set up.

Furthermore, all conferences and public events at the KU between March 16 and April 19 are canceled. This affects both events that are organized by the KU and its facilities as well as those organized by external parties who wish to use the KU’s premises. The University’s Open Day that was planned for April 25 will take place as a virtual event. The cancellation measures do not apply to internal meetings held by departments or chairs.

“We have an increased responsibility for everyone who studies and works at the KU as well as for the wider public. Now, we will need to find the appropriate extent for the measures we implement”, says KU President Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gien.
