Students from 21 countries at KU Summer School

Learning German or improving your existing language skills, learning about culture, literature and film in Germany and having a great time in Eichstätt – that's what the KU Summer School has on offer. 52 students from 21 countries are participating in the three-week program this year, making it one of the most international and largest summer schools ever organized at the KU.

The students from all over the world were officially welcomed in the Eichstätt Residenz at the start of the Summer School by District Administrator Alexander Anetsberger, Mayor Josef Grienberger and the KU Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Klaus Stüwe. Grienberger praised the Summer School’s format that enabled young people from all over the world to come together in a democratic spirit to build bridges for the future.

The three-week program offers German courses in small groups for different language levels as well as insights into the regional studies of Germany and Bavaria. The teaching program also enables students to intensively approach German literature and film. There is also a leisure program with field trips to Bamberg and Ingolstadt. A dozen lecturers and tutors are involved in the organization of the program. The Summer School has been existing at the KU for almost four decades and is organized by the University's International Office and Language Center.

The course is always very popular: this year the program was already fully booked by the end of April. The largest nationality groups this year are eleven students from the Czech Republic, eight from the USA and six from Ukraine. Seven participants come from Africa.
