Information for applicants

The International Office (IO), the KU's internal service office, offers the following services for DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) applications:

  • On request, the IO will assist in identifying a suitable DAAD programme if concrete project ideas exist.
  • Upon request, the IO will advise on the application process.
  • On request, the IO reads and comments on completed application documents - within the framework of its competences, which are technical, logistical and administrative in nature.
  • The IO does not write complete proposals. Depending on the type of application, the IO may contribute individual text modules by arrangement, but these may be exclusively technical-logistical or administrative in nature.

In order to be able to accompany the application process optimally, the IO requests to be involved at an early stage.

Please also note the following important points:

  • The IO does not draw up financing plans. These are the responsibility of the applicants and must be coordinated directly with the third-party funding or budget department of the KU.
  • A prior consultation and review of the application by the IO is neither a guarantee that the application will be approved by KU's Präsidium nor that the application will be successful at the DAAD.
  • The Präsidium will sign only applications submitted to the IO for a brief opinion one week before the deadline. In this case the IO guarantees a timely submission to the Presidium for the signature. DAAD applications that are submitted to the Presidium without the IO's statement are generally not signed.
