From northern Germany to the Alpine region: young tourism researchers discuss their latest work in Bolzano

The Chair of Tourism at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt was once again represented this year at the Tourism Studies Colloquium organised by the German Society for Tourism Studies (DGT) and the Working Group on Tourism Research (AKTF). During a two-day meeting at Eurac Research in Bolzano, numerous early-career researchers had the opportunity to present and discuss their doctoral research projects.

Alongside the specialist presentations, the focus was particularly on personal dialogue regarding current issues, methodological approaches and theoretical perspectives. Once again this year, the programme reflected the thematic breadth of tourism studies. The research presented ranged from issues relating to destination development and governance, through sustainability and mobility, to processes of social transformation within tourism. Equally diverse were the areas of study examined, from northern Germany to the Alpine region, offering fascinating insights into different regional challenges and research contexts.

Events such as the Tourism Studies Colloquium make an important contribution to fostering the next generation of researchers and create space for academic dialogue across institutional boundaries. It is therefore a key priority for the Chair of Tourism to attend such events. Special thanks go to Eurac Research this year for their hospitality.
