Christian Labonte from AUDI AG inspires with an interdisciplinary perspective on design

The Chair of Tourism and the Center for Entrepreneurship place great importance on integrating lectures from various disciplines into their courses in order to present diverse perspectives and innovative approaches that enrich the understanding of topics such as destination design. On June 23, as part of the lecture “Theory and Strategy in Destination Management and Marketing,” a special lecture was given by Christian Labonte, responsible for design strategy and communication at AUDI AG.

The key focus was on the topic of “Destination Design,” with Christian Labonte presenting new perspectives on the design of destinations and living spaces. A central aspect of his contribution was the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to design that integrates social, cultural, and economic factors. Labonte discussed the relevance of the design thinking process and emphasized its value for design processes. From a management perspective, the process continues to be highly relevant due to its user-centered approach. In the context of Ingolstadt, it was also shown how progress can be enabled through destination and living space design. Labonte emphasized the importance of process thinking as opposed to project thinking, with flexibility and feedback loops being seen as the key to sustainable and innovative developments. His presentation offered valuable insights into the opportunities that strategic destination design offers for the future of destinations.
