Announcement: Tourism Futures Event

The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdowns, shutdowns, closed borders and further implications have shocked the global tourism. On April 27 and May 11, the digital twin event elaborates on key learnings and possible future scenarios from a European and Asian/Pacific perspective.

Shutdown, lockdown, a cautious shift towards a restart, yet another lockdown – the COVID-19 pandemic has put tourism in a state of uncertainty, existential fear and immense economic loss worldwide. COVID-19 has caused a multitude of short to medium-term challenges for tourism that arise from questions regarding ways out of the crisis. Tourism will change – but how will this change look like? The “Tourism Futures Event” will elaborate on possible new tourism scenarios in a post COVID-19 world and a pathway out of COVID-19 based on learnings from different European and Asian/Pacific countries by bringing together renowned experts from science and tourism practice in two digital conference formats – each focusing on the respective region.
