The Master’s program traditionally begins with an orientation trip, and this year’s destination was Regensburg. Through engaging lectures, exciting tours, and shared activities, students not only deepened their knowledge of tourism and sustainability but also strengthened their team spirit.
The trip started with a shared departure from Eichstätt. Upon arriving in Regensburg, Daniela Wiese from Regensburg Tourismus GmbH delivered an insightful lecture. Under the title “Tourism in Regensburg,” she provided an overview of data, facts, and innovative approaches used by the city to shape its tourism sector.
During the lunch break, the group visited the Historic Wurstkuchl, the oldest sausage kitchen in the world. Here, participants not only enjoyed regional delicacies but also learned about the history of this iconic establishment.
Another highlight of the trip was the tour of the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site of Regensburg. Students gained a deeper understanding of the significance of this heritage, the challenges of monument preservation, and the sustainable use of historical urban spaces.
In the afternoon, the group hiked to the Walhalla, a renowned marble temple overlooking the Danube. The day concluded with the Enlightment Show “Fascinating Journey Through the Seasons,” which highlighted the importance of nature and the environment.
Thank you very much Daniela Wiese from Regensburg Tourismus GmbH and Monika Göttler, Project Manager of Regensburg’s World Heritage Coordination, for their engaging lectures and excellent organization.
