New CHE ranking: KU students very satisfied

Once again, the KU's degree programs have been rated above average in the current CHE ranking. In the latest ranking published by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), both the University as a whole and the study conditions and lecturers received top marks from students. This year, the CHE asked students about how satisfied they were with the subjects of Journalism, Psychology and Romance studies, among others. The results are published in the new edition of the ZEIT study guide.

The high level of satisfaction with the small group sizes and the good access to the courses stand out positively in all the degree programs evaluated. In addition, it is also the particularly good supervision by the teaching staff and the support for stays abroad that are repeatedly emphasized. Students on the Journalism degree program at the Faculty of Languages and Literatures are particularly enthusiastic about the practical orientation and the networking opportunities among students. Respondents praised the appropriate group sizes in courses and the good support provided by lecturers in case of open questions or problems. In general, they consider the support during their studies to be very good and praise the information on organizational issues relating to the degree course. The Library's facilities also scored very well: The grades awarded for service and advice, access to electronic journals and books as well as the availability and equipment of student workstations in the KU Library are well above average.

The Psychology department at the KU, which is part of the Faculty of Philosophy and Education, also performs very well in comparison with other universities. Students are not only highly satisfied with the general study conditions, but also rate the University very positively in almost all criteria. In particular, the assessments of supervision by lecturers, the coordination of course content within modules and the support provided by lecturers in case of questions and problems stand out clearly. What students appreciate most about the Library is the comprehensive advice and service offer and that workstations are always available.

The students of the Romance Studies department, which is also part of the Faculty of Languages and Literatures, particularly praise the support they receive from lecturers with questions and problems. Here, the KU even received 4.9 out of 5 possible stars. Romance Studies also scores excellently in terms of course organization, the coordination of course content, group sizes and access to courses.

The departments of English/American Studies and History have also been re-evaluated in this year's ranking. The courses offered by the KU scored particularly well here thanks to the good support provided by the lecturers. For Prof. Dr. Klaus Meier, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, the survey results reflect the University's self-image: "The KU understands itself as a University where all students acquire valuable knowledge in a friendly environment and then carry that knowledge into their careers and into society as a whole." He said, he is pleased that students recognize and appreciate the opportunities the KU offers them in terms of networking and sustainable learning.
