Research projects at the KU

EU-funded projects

The KU takes pride in its wide range of EU-funded research projects. It is a driving force for innovation, particularly in the fields of landscape ecology and ecosystem research, as well as peace and conflict studies, language, and culture, business and mathematics and data science, thus actively contributing to addressing current societal challenges.

DFG-funded projects

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is the largest research funding organisation and central self-governing organisation for the sciences and humanities in Germany. Through its funding, the KU continuously strengthens its academic excellence and makes an important contribution to the further development of key research fields.

Projects funded by the federal states and government

With funding provided by the federal and state governments, the KU is also carrying out a wide range of research projects across various disciplines. This support enables the University to address practical issues, develop innovative solutions, and specifically strengthen the transfer of scientific knowledge to society.

Other science funding organizations

Through support provided by additional research funding institutions, the KU is actively involved in forward-looking research projects. Particularly in the fields of social transformation, linguistics, taxation, and data science, innovative approaches are emerging that—in some cases through collaboration with other universities—significantly strengthen interdisciplinary perspectives.
