The Master’s degree program in Psychology has an applied approach that covers all areas of psychology. Students gain knowledge and acquire key methodological skills that are required for the main areas in which psychology is applied as well as for selected research topics.
The Master’s degree program in Psychology builds on the Bachelor’s degree program in the same subject and provides students with more advanced knowledge of content and methods. It equips them with the skills they need to work in professions related to psychology and also qualifies them to pursue academic research.

The program in detail
The program includes both required and elective modules. In the required modules, students develop skills in diagnosis, assessment, and statistics, as well as planning experiments and analyzing data. They may choose their elective modules from a broad selection that is grouped into three areas, two of which they study in depth.
Specialization Clinical Psychology
In the specialization field ofClinical Psychology, students acquire knowledge and skills in diagnosing, treating, and conducting research into psychological disorders.
Specialization Economics and Work
In the specialization Economics and Work, students acquire knowledge and skills in fields such as personnel psychology, organizational psychology, mediation, occupational rehabilitation, ergonomics, and health psychology.
Specialization Development and Cognition
In the Development and Cognition specialization, students gain in-depth knowledge of fundamental research on cognition and neurosciences and the associated methods, and study theoretical and practical topics in applied developmental psychology.
Each student must obtain 10 ECTS credits in the elective area.
In the context of the Master’s thesis, students approach a scientifically relevant question by using their acquired subject-specific knowledge and methods.
Students complete a 12-week professional internship during their studies.

In the student survey (area of studies and teaching), the Master's degree program in Psychology is among the top five Master's programs in Germany! The Eichstätt degree program is in the top group in 6 of 7 areas.

Support during the application process as well as information about the semester abroad is provided by the International Office at the KU (Website available in German).
During their course of study, students must complete a 12-week required professional internship. This internship can be split into four- and/or eight-week partial internships. The total working time (in hours) must correspond to the usual weekly working hours in the industry. The internship can be completed, for example, in specialized clinics, private therapy practices, consulting institutions or companies.
Career possibilities and professional fields
Psychologists work in many different professional fields. You can work as a psychological psychotherapist, in various counseling centers, in research, in diagnostics, in free enterprises and in many other fields.
Short distances on campus at the KU save time and avoid stress. The KU is a campus University with modern facilities. The buildings on campus are located close to the Eichstätt old town. Although the University and its campus has grown, it is still characterized by short distances: In Eichstätt, everything can be reached within ten minutes’ walking distance. On campus, green spaces such as the Hofgarten are the perfect places to relax. The garden of the Kapuzinerkloster is also used by different student initiatives for their projects. The canteen is located at the heart of the Eichstätt campus and has a sun deck and cafeteria that leave nothing to be desired.

Located between Munich and Nuremberg, the city impresses with its Baroque setting and southern flair combined with modern and prizewinning architecture as well as a broad variety of cultural offerings and leisure activities.
The Baroque park at the heart of the campus and the nearby banks of the Altmühltal river are the KU’s “green living room”. Another big advantage: all University facilities are just a short walk away from each other.
