Entry from virus variant areas

Against the background of the classification of various countries as virus variant areas, it is forseeable that the entry of students and scientists from these countries will not be possible for the winter semester 2021/2022. Due to the Corona entry regulations, transportation to Germany from virus variant areas will not be possible for the foreseeable future. This also applies to fully vaccinated persons. Exceptions are only possible in very few cases, for example for persons with residence and right of abode in Germany. The German Rectors' Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz) pointed out that for students and scientists from virus variant areas, this means that on-campus studies or a research stay in Germany cannot currently be guaranteed for the winter semester 2021/2022. Even if the KU has already granted you a study place, this does not facilitate an entry. Since entry is not possible, visas cannot be issued as long as a country is considered a virus variant area. You can find an up-to-date list of countries that are considered virus variant areas here.
