Teaching at the Chair of Physical Geography
How we see our teaching practice
The Chair of Physical Geography primarily teaches geomorphological and hydrological topics, with a strong focus on the research and study area “Environmental Processes and Natural Hazards”.
Our teaching concept follows these guidelines:
- Combination of theory and practice – sound theoretical training in lecture halls and seminar rooms, followed by hands-on scientific work in the field collecting data and analyzing it in the laboratory or on the computer
- Diversity of methods: field, laboratory, hardware, and software – state-of-the-art
- Topics from applied and fundamental research – for a variety of career prospects
- Vital connection between research and teaching – project seminars and theses are integrated into current research projects, and methodology courses often use data from our own projects
