Franziska Imhoff studied Cultural Economics at the University of Passau. She complemented her subsequent master's degree in tourism and sustainable regional development at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt by studying tourism geography at the University of Oulu (Finland). In her master's thesis, Franziska Imhoff examined actor-based regional development strategies from a praxeological perspective. In particular, she dealt with the concept of "affective spaces".
As a research assistant, Franziska Imhoff is active in the research project "DIYhoch3 - Youth Cultural Self-Organization in the Border Triangle of Bavaria-Saxony-Thuringia", which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. She is concerned with practices of cultural self-organization of young people as well as with public funding practices of youth cultural projects in structurally weak rural areas.
