Rebaz Ahmad has been a member of the Economic Geography working group since April 2024. Mr Ahmad studied economic and social geography at the University of Osnabrück. In his master's thesis, he focussed on the potential of by-products in the Ghanaian cocoa sector using the example of cocoa juice. This work and the associated field trips intensified his interest in regional production systems, agricultural and food systems and the associated value chains.
In his doctoral project, Mr Ahmad wants to examine the intensification of agriculture from the perspective of sustainable development using the example of vegetable production in the autonomous region of Kurdistan in Iraq. He will address issues of climate crisis and food security and pay particular attention to the investigation of (alternative) forms of organising social and economic interactions.
