From April to June 2025, Andrea Nieder, a Master's graduate of the Ingolstadt School of Management (WFI), was able to work at the Tax Foundation for three months as a Transatlantic Tax Fellow 2025. This experience was made possible by the Transatlantic Tax Fellowship, which is awarded once a year by "Prometheus – Das Freiheitsinstitut" in conjunction with the Tax Foundation.
During the fellowship, Nieder gained a deep insight into the work of the Tax Foundation and participated in exciting projects. Among other things, she was able to write her own blog posts and contribute to the creation of the International Tax Competitiveness Index 2025 – a central project of the Tax Foundation that compares the tax competitiveness of all OECD countries.
A particular highlight was the invitation to Washington, D.C., where she spent a week at the headquarters of the Tax Foundation. On site, she had the opportunity to meet the team in person and present her Master's thesis. She found the subsequent discussions extremely enriching. They have given her valuable ideas for her future work.
Nieder is enthusiastic about this opportunity: "Overall, the fellowship was a great experience – both professionally and personally. I was able to deepen my knowledge in the field of international tax policy, gain exciting insights into the work of an internationally active think tank and make many new contacts. My special thanks go to Prometheus and the Tax Foundation for making this fellowship possible – and for the warm welcome, the exciting insights and the inspiring collaboration!"
The Prometheus Research Fellowship supports scientific projects by young people who share the ideals and interests of the Institute. Prometheus selects five young academics twice a year. Applicants should deal with social and socio-scientific issues in their studies; however, interdisciplinary approaches that touch on these topics are also in demand. In addition to a scholarship, the personal and academic exchange with experts and other fellows offers valuable insights and contacts.
